Yarn along

Honestly. I need to finish some kind of yarn-y project. I need a pair of #3 DPNs to finish my honey hat and I tell you, every time I walk into Michael's to procure them, I get distracted by the wreaths. I want a new springy wreath something fierce but I just haven't found the one, or been bitten by the right DIY bug. Maybe some pinterest-ing will do the trick.

I HAVE been finishing books! I read 22 Britannia Road and I am curious to hear some feedback from others. The book was beautifully written and focused on an aspect of WWII that I've never learned much about - Polish refugees. It left me scratching my head because the descriptions of what was happening were so very detailed but somehow I felt the characters were still a bit shallow and undeveloped. I spent the majority of the book not knowing whose side I was on. It reminded me of The Light Between Two Oceans in this way. I described it to a friend who had read The Light Between Two Oceans by saying that the hard parts of 22 Britannia Road are harder than TLBTO, but the sad parts are not as sad, and that presents a peculiar emotional disconnect. Have you read it?

Right now I am reading O, Pioneer! by Willa Cather. Let's be honest, it is hard for me to get excited about a book that starts with a kitten in despair, and I'm still not really invested in the book but I'm finishing it because it is reasonably short. Am I missing out on Willa Cather greatness in another book?

  2. Love the daffodil! Funny coincidence as I just finished O Pioneers last week and felt the same. It was slow to get into and to be honest, most of the book is slow and homey feeling until the end. You'll see what I mean!

  3. That such a lovely daffodil— I can almost smell it. :) I cannot wait to see more life springing up around here, although I did spot my first snowdrops last week.

  7. Willa Cather is on my to-read list, having only read and hated My Antonia in middle school... I figure I'd better give it another go. You're not convincing me though, haha!
