Honey Hat on Hold

I've gone as far as I can with the ball of yarn I had. That's the problem with knitting from stash. Now what. I think I will start a shawl for a Christmas gift, one I KNOW I have enough yarn to finish, and one that uses different needles, so that shouldn't pose a problem. I'll just ignore the honey hat until I get a chance to hit up my LYS (though it is actually for ME, so I hope it will be done before the true cold sets in).

What am I reading? Not much really. Julian is reading CS Lewis's The Four Loves with two friends and he is reading it aloud to me at home. I also am part-way through The Blood of An Englishman by MC Beaton. It isn't holding my attention much but it doesn't require a lot of attention, either, so I can easily pick up where I left off.

What are you reading and/or knitting? Show and tell with Ginny.

  1. DOH! I hate it when the yarn runs out before you're done. Hopefully you can find more!

  2. That's some very pretty knitting going on in your photo. I read the Four Loves years ago (maybe time to read it again), I hope you will both enjoy reading it together :)

  3. Casting on a new shawl makes things better! That really is the downside of using stash yarn - running out before the project is done.

  4. That is why I have a hard time just buying yarn to have in my stash. You never know what to make or if you have enough.

  5. I agree that that is a hard aspect of knitting from stash! I almost never buy yarn unless I have a project in mind for it but I haven't figured out how to use up the rest. I think I need a food/yarn scale so I can calculate my yardage based on weight since that would help me avoid the same difficulties which I've encountered too many frustrating times! That hat is so cute!
