{Yarn Along} new books

I'm posting random, non-knitting project pictures today because I must confess, I did a very silly thing. Two weeks ago, I had my annual eye check-up. I very rarely let them dilate my eyes because the whole ordeal really freaks me out. BUT, last year I did and so this year, they insisted.

I took my knitting with me, you know, to work on while I waited. I just kept sitting there, in the darkish room, so satisfied with myself that I could continue successfully knitting even after the drops were in.

Two days later, I picked up my work and it wasn't quite right. I continued on down the row of eyelet, and it wasn't until the row was finished that I realized I'd added two extra rows of stockinette between my eyelet rows. To make it all right I'm looking at frogging about six rows now. Argh. That's why I've been reading more, and knitting less. Denial can be a beautiful thing.

On the book front, I am working on two books, both new and good. I was trying to work out the Kindle Lender's Library nuances and just picked the first book that popped up in the queue to see if it would download. As it turns out, it's a pretty cute read! The Ladies' Room is a book about a woman who discovers a nasty little secret while in the stall of the church bathroom at her Aunt's funeral and how her whole life changes afterward.

Pictures of Hollis Woods is a book written for and often read by pre-teens. It is the story of a girl who runs away from foster home after foster home whenever she "gets the running feeling." The book tells us of the two times she didn't want to leave a home, once in the past (which obviously went wrong because she left) and now in the present. It is a bit of a coming of age tale and I rather like it so far.

  1. I just signed up for the lending library as well and saw that book. I'm going to go back and add it! Sorry about the knitting! Denial is difficult isn't it?:)))

  4. Oh so frustrating. I have to frog several rows of every project I attempt- usually just some silly mistake made when interrupted by a child or something. It is so hard to make myself do but I'm always glad because I'm too much of a perfectionist to let the mistakes go now. I had picked up some fancy embroidery this week and realized yesterday that I made a huge mistake and need to spend several hours ripping it out too so I'm with you on the denial. Suddenly my desire to cast on a sweater was HUGE! haha!

  6. I hate getting my eyes dilated- it just feels awful-you are excused for sure- I don't see how someone could knit comfortably with that :)
Love all your delish blueberries though.
    Have a good week.

  8. I must be one of the few people that have absolutely no problem with those eye drops. So sorry your knitting needs frogging. Very annoying. Your blueberries are making me hungry. I have just added those books to my "to read" list. They both look quite interesting.

  10. I must admit that I have done something similar. I recently decided to knit on the ride home in the dark and I thought I knew the pattern but alas it was wrong. I hope the frogging isn't too much work. Both books sound interesting.
